Lead replacement pipe

Hi
I have been given a quote for lead replacement £800 excluding the grant from United Utilities. I've not managed to get anyone else down to give us a quote so it's hard for me to compare.
They've said £800 to lay the new pipe and do the digging and cover it back up. But they won't connect anything inside my house and so they'll only do the digging bit.
Anyone had this done?
Thanks

sounds expensive, I remember a few years ago they (UU) were offering it free if you did the digging. suppose it depends on the length of the trench and the surface finish?0

Does anyone know if a water meter is installed as part of the scheme? The property currently doesn't have a water meter and I don't want one either. I'd have to weigh up the options if that's the case.

I did this myself. It was about 5 metres from house stopcock to pavement. Took about a day and a half to dig out to 2 1/2 deep and get under the house wall which just had a stepped brick foundation. Water board came and inspected the trench and gave me a date for connection to the existing meter (doubt they would fit a new one unless requested). I arranged a plumber to do the internal work on the same day.
Depending on the length and how they get through the wall £800 might be reasonable.0 -

In some areas meters are becoming mandatory, and they fit one to new or existing systems, whether you want one or not.0
