VED on electric cars

From April 2025 this will rise from zero to £190 (or more?). I have a BEV, currently taxed to May 2025. Is there any reason why I should not declare SORN sometime in March 2025 (at a point when I don't need to use the car for a couple of days) and then retax it, I assume still at £0, until February 2026. This should put off incurring the higher charge for 9 months ... :-).

There is another thread running on this where such was suggested. Someone even posted you do not need to SORN it, but search for that in case I remember incorrectly.2

My search obviously did not find the other thread - I will try harder!
