Tax on interest savings - I haven't had a letter from HMRC

  • I did ask the member of staff that I spoke to with regards to my husband completing a self assessment for 23/24 and providing the correct amount of interest received, would that have prompted them to investigate why the over estimated amount. He said they don't really deal with SA, but they generally don't get looked at straight away so my husbands account could have had his tax code changed before this (PAYE pension) resulting in a overpayment. Hence I'd rather make sure estimated figures are removed by providing closure dates.

You are able to provide the info by live chat to HMRC, but because I originally was doing 4 accounts and so a lot of accounts I chose to do it by phone.
  • Thanks, the chat option sounds much easier.  :)
