Selling BTL solicitor wants my bank statements

That is correct. However, it doesn't stop the solicitors asking questions. I changed my name after I got married. I changed my bank details but I did not change the name on the property deed. When I subsequently sold the property, my solicitor was fine with it when I showed her my marriage certificate with my maiden name on it and explained that I never got round to updating the name with the land registry.BB. said:
The law doesn’t require the bank details to be changed after getting married if you are still using the name, as far as I know.Hoenir said:
Solicitors have a regulatory duty to satisfy themselves fully befoe proceeding. If you've been inefficient in your adminstration then you can hardly complain when you are in a rush and it causes delays. Likewise agitated people tend to draw suspicions on themselves.BB. said:The fact I got married over 2 years ago but have my property, passport and bank account in maiden name might have arose suspicions too. She pointed out the bank account name is miss rather than mrs. I didn’t think to change it?
The buyer solicitors however were more suspicious of it and asked my solicitor to confirm that they have done all the relevant due diligence checks that I actually own the property because of the difference in name. It went through fine, but as I say, solicitors have a right to ask questions to tick their boxes, so don't get too concerned about all the questions that they ask, as they are only doing their job.1
