    Thank you for your reply.
Does it mean that once the evaluating firm will pop round to evaluate the content, I'll be able to remove the lot and sell some of the content (I could do with raising some cash, since various expenses for maintaining the property are building up and I'm paying out of my pocket)?
Yes you can, there is no problem at all with getting on with things.
Oh, good!  The chattels were left to me, need sorting out and I really need to get on with things (the house needs some Tlc before it can be sold).
    Thank you!

Re ....have you managed to withdraw now from their services?
I dare not go completely solo without some legal experts at my side, it would be unwise at this point. An issue has been found in the Will, something is not clear (an error by the solicitors who drafted the Will). I felt so horrible the other day that I just wanted to resign as executor. It turns out that I can't now, it's a bit late. I just have to ride the tide and keep my head above water and get on with this. This forum is going to be my lifeline as it's going to be a long year!

Just a quick heads up that generally it's suggested you don't bother doing too much to a house before you try and sell it, because it won't necessarily add to value. Clean and tidy is worthwhile for viewings: repainting all the walls not so much, because they might hate your colour choices (yes, even magnolia ...) Weathertight and secure probably also a good idea, but depends on what the issues are with a lack in those areas.

I have said it before, but a house clearance company (once we'd done an initial trawl for documents etc) was worth every single one of the many pennies we paid them for an overstuffed house. They did a thorough clean afterwards, again very worthwhile.
