I have a payg tesco mobile I think it is this one.
HD+ Display Android Smartphone | moto e14 | motorola UK
does it connect to the home wifi just like a laptop would?
i.e. do I have to pay from my £10 credit to access the internet like I pay for a call or is access to the internet from my home router free just like a laptop would connect?
Thanks

It can connect to your home wifi like your laptop and doesn't use any credit if you do it like that.If you go outside of your home wifi and go online it will come out of your credit.Copious places have Wi-fi hotspots you can connect to and use while in range, and these won't come out of any credit.2

Mobile internet when you're away from your home wifi can eat up pay as you go credit really quickly. Have a look at getting a pay as you go bundle, depending on your expected usage and how often that might be.

Consider going SIM only rather than PAYG - you can get it for a lot less than a tenner a month
Look at the 5GB Lebara offer via this MSE page = £3.20 / month for 1st year - 4.90/ month in following years
Maybe the 3GB would be enough for you, but only 300 mins - but who talks on the phone nowadays ?
