Accidental Life Insurance

Hi all. Mt Dad died last year and had prepared me for the things I needed to sort when he passed. As he died as a result of a fall, the inquest ruled Dad's death as an accident.

He took out many policies but wasn't very good at keeping a paper trail. I have looked on the internet and found companies such as uar.co.uk who can do these searches for me as the Executor, but I don't know if they are legit and obviously don't want to risk adding my card details for the cost of it if it is a dodgy company.

I'd really appreciate any help you can give me.

How old was he? Any idea the sort of time frame these were taken out over?

Most modern policies have continuous payments so if you aren't seeing payments in bank statements it's likely they were ended. Older policies could be "paid up" or be a hybrid investment/insurance and not have ongoing premium payments.

UAR was a service ran by Experian, it closed in 2022. Things have become much more fragmented since then.

Most insurers actively monitor all deaths registered in the UK and try to match with their insureds. Depending on how well records were kept they may try to actively reach out. That said, never dealt with accident only life so dont know if their approach is different.
