Parking related CCJ appeal - Any advice appreciated!

Hello everyone,

I’m hoping for some guidance regarding two CCJs I’ve recently received for parking violations at the same location. Here’s the situation:

Last August, I visited a friend in my previous city to help him move. He had an unused parking space he was still paying for, so we checked with the building manager if I could use it. The manager confirmed verbally that he’d handle any tickets I might receive due to my friend's car no longer being registered there. We went away for the weekend, and when we returned, there were no tickets on my windshield, so I assumed all was clear.

However, in April, I received a letter informing me of a CCJ issued in February for a fine I hadn’t been aware of. After considering appeal costs, I ended up paying it, chalking up the lack of prior notification to a delay in updating my car’s V5C address (my license was current, but not my car registration). Unfortunately, I’ve now received another CCJ for parking on the following day, and I’m concerned more could be on the way.

I’ve since checked with UKPC and found photos of my car parked on the site without a notice on my windshield. The notification of a CCJ is coming through the same debt notices through DBCL. Given the circumstances, would an appeal be worth pursuing, or am I likely out of options?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

    Hello and welcome.

A relatively frequent mistake here is to confuse a County Court Claim with a County Court Judgment.
Can you please confirm that everywhere you mention CCJ you are actually referring to a County Court Judgment and not a Claim.
  • Thanks for getting back to me, stated in the debt collectors letters it says County Court Judgment

OK so you need to apply to set aside the CCJ which is fully explained in the NEWBIES thread.

PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
