Budgeting loan

Hi this is a strange one I have never heard of before..

On Tuesday last week my ex partner applied for and got offered a Budgeting loan on the same day, he accepted it and got a text saying he will receive another text with a date for payment within 3 days... He never got that text it's been a week now.

I've heard of delays with applying for a loan, but not recieving it once you have accepted it, it fact that is usually a quick process(it's automated by computer)especially with how quickly he was offered it.my ex is now panicking and freaking out thinking his bank has been hacked.

Any advice, it says wait 2 weeks online to call but I don't know whether I should contact them earlier( I'm an appointee). Anyone else heard of this before

I completed an online BL application last Tuesday for a friend. He got a text the same day to acknowledge receipt of the application but has yet to hear anything else (ie an offer). Usually he gets the offer within a day or two (sometimes, as with yourself, the same day).

I wonder if there's been some technical problem with the Social Fund loan system? Most likely not, and perhaps it's just a coincidence. You could try calling them tomorrow and see if there is a glitch (and report back here too, if there is a problem).

A technical glitch could also mean applications having to dealth with manually which will slow down processing times and that could also explain any delay.

Be prepared for a long wait for an answer if you do call. I don't know what the waiting times are now, but the last time (about 3 years ago) I had to phone Social Fund it took the best part of an hour to speak to someone.

If it says wait 2 weeks then I would wait 2 weeks.

The statement may mean you will receive a text which will give you a payment date which will be within 3 days.

Not that the text will be within 3days.

I applied for one 2 weeks ago. Had an offer the following day, which I accepted and within 10 minutes had another text telling me when it will be paid.

The text clearly states that the text with the payment information will be within 3 days.

"You accepted a Budgeting Loan of £140 Jonathan. We will send another text within 3 days. This will tell you the date you will receive your money. You do not need to contact us. We will write to you when you need to start repaying the loan"

@Robbie64 slightly different situation, has the loan application in your friends case has not yet been processed whereas it has in mine.My partner got offered the loan the same day he applied. It seems your friend applied the same day as my ex.

A friend of mine applied on Thursday and received the money today...so very odd.
 Edit: I just checked his bank to see if he received the money and there was a glitch with texts...no he hasn't.

I have just been going through my exes mail (he never opens it) and I have found a letter regarding him having to repay the £140 Budgeting Loan ( dated 24/10/24)at a future date, the loan he never received. I am massively concerned now as I have checked his transactions and he definitely never received any money. I'm definitely contacting them tomorrow.

Someone asked for an update.

He has phoned me and has confirmed he just received the money in his bank account. No idea why he never received a text.

If anyone else has the same issue...just keep checking your bank.
