We had a family of mice move in to our detached garage a few years ago, almost definitely via a small part of the wooden door frame which was rotten.  They got EVERYWHERE in the garage (based on their "deposits"), and it took several weeks and multiple traps to finally get rid of them all (plus a lot of cleaning up afterwards).

I'd make sure your door is sealed better ASAP, given any local mice will be looking for a nice warm place to live over the winter.
