    Police wouldn't be interested if there were 20 dead bodies in the front garden. Absolute waste of space.

    Thanks for all your comments, all very helpful. :)  It’s always good to hear neutral opinions on these things. The foam sealant sounds like a good idea as a first step, so I will investigate that. Hopefully that will do the trick . Thanks all.

    If they are growing, then there could be an increased fire risk.  Not sure I'd want to take a chance on my home going up in smoke.
