Arnold Clark Faulty Car

I purchased my car last July. By the November a fault occurred. The fault persisted for over a year, with the car being sent to the garage 5 times to fix. Each time I was told it was something different that was causing the same issue. After 5 attempts at fixing the issue it's still happening. I've lost all faith in the car and asked to get a replacement with they have done. The problem is I put £3,500 ,deposit down for the first car which I have now lost. The car also depreciated by £1.500 which they did match. However where do I stand on all the money I put in the first car? If the car was working properly I wouldn't of had to send it back. Arnold Clark are arguing that I have autocare so that means that they can still fix it rather than replace. But they have had over a year to do this. I've also lost money on the autocare as they wouldn't transfer the year I have already paid for. I'm now starting over again with a new car but feel I shouldn't be out of pocket due to them not knowing what was wrong with the car they sold me in the first place !!

How are you out of pocket if they have replaced the car and allowed an amount for depreciation?
The deposit paid is equity in the replacement.2 -
