PayPal Pay in 3 - refund question

Has anyone used PayPal's pay in 3 option and then had to do a refund on it?  If so, how does it play out? Does the DD get cancelled and a refund on paid amount is applied? Same I guess for Klarna

Looking to buy a phone and paying by this method but would want to return it if not to my liking.

Is it too much hassle to do this way?

Remember that the retailer may reduce your refund by a significant amount if you have broken seals and/or used the phone, so whilst you might get a refund it may well not be anywhere near a full refund.
