Contacting DWP

My father-in-law has called the DWP to ask about my mother-in-law state pension payment following the change in her bank details (he has LPA for her).

He says that no one answers the phone and it advises that he go on the website.  He has therefore written to them and they have not responded.  He said it has been more than 2 weeks, but I do think it will take longer for them to respond as my experience with the DWP is that it takes them forever to respond to enquiries.

Has anyone had experience with contacting the DWP about their state pension?

He has sent them the LPA but he needs it back for something else and he can't get hold of them.

The only advice I can give - which I've found works with HMRC - is to ring EARLY, possibly starting five minutes before their advertised start of business.

  • When he gets the LPA back he should get a couple of certified copies made, it’s never a good idea to send the original.
