If you google exactly your "" you will find many asking the same, the majority posted by people who say the outcome is that the answer is no.
Some councils do give more detail, Falkirk for example say they'll only consider moving a stop if there is a public safety issue, anti-social behaviour which the police have already been dealign with or if you want to put in a dropped kerb for parking. The later they are clear that its dependent on another suitable place existing and the move will be at your own expense.
Most others are really talking about temporary moves, eg if you're getting the road dug up for utilities etc.0 -
. . .Many local councils, Birmingham in particular, have introduced "bus–stop rationalisation" both because of the expense of maintaining the bus–stop furniture (admittedly very little in the OP's case) and also to speed up services – why not write to the council AND your MP and ask them could they not introduce a rationalisation scheme and close this one?
. . .If the OP's stop is only thirty yards from a better–sited one with a shelter and possibly P.I. and a timetable, why retain a badly–sited one that potentially affects upstairs residents of the terraced houses more than the better one does?
. . .I know I have arthritis and periodic bother with my feet and joints that affect walking but I can walk 400 yards when they're not giving trouble!0 -
winnie2404 said:I never complained about the bus stop, it isn't outside of my home the stop is approximately 35/37ft up, however when a bus stops the rear where the engine is sits directly outside of my bedroom window, like 6 ft away I live on the ground floor apartment, I'd rather have a bus stop outside my window than the bus engine. I can't open my window due to the fumes, 96 stops per day and 5 different services in a road that is approximately 120/140 ft long is one way, 2 lanes the bus stop takes up most of one lane, traffic coming onto this from 3 ways, a new set of apartments right in the centre of street with a car park in the middle which is directly opposite the bus stop and our homes, a pub on one corner with a a car part and another small car park at the other end, all within a space of 120/140 feet with absolutely zero traffic control not even a crossing You just have to run and hope for the best
Are you suggesting that the same busses have another stop 30 yards away that they already use, which seems unlikely, or are you suggesting they close your stop and add 5 services to the other stop, making that one much busier?
