New Build flood compensation

We recently bought a new build with Cussins and were in for 3 weeks before a twist & push pipe fitted by Fast Flow “popped” off under our bath and flooded through our landing. We had to have the middle floor carpets replaced, and it came through the ceiling and walls downstairs so had to replace ceiling and floors downstairs also. They are saying the architraves and doors have swelled and if we put the heating on they will un swell? But I’m unsure if they need fully replaced since they got wet. If the walls were plasterboard can mould grow inside? As mould grew behind the kitchen fridge wall but it was exposed to air. The only compensation they’ve offered (they asked us to work with them so they didn’t have to pay for a hotel) is tiling my downstairs bathroom and repainting my walls.

Where was the pipe located in the house? Did it take a while before you noticed as thats a lot of damage unless you weren't in the house for some time.
  • It was the hot & cold pipe under the bath panel. We didn’t notice anything we just woke up one morning and the carpet was soaked then went downstairs and noticed the wet walls it must’ve burst over night

Sounds like they have admitted fault by offering to tile and paint. I would hold firm and ask that they rectify all damage inc carpets and the architraves and doors

Were this an insurance claim then insurers would do similar, install dehumidifiers to dry it quicker and reassess the damage after everything has dried out.
