Warranty

Options
My Sony Bravia Tv has stopped working and has the 6 blinking red light issue. Called Sony went through the updates and factory reset still didn't resolve the issue so I was told they would replace the tv. I sent all the requested documents now I am being told I am 6 days out of warranty and that they will not replace tv even though the issue seems common with the backlight failing. Any suggestions on how to proceed?

Consumer rights against the retailer perhaps?

If it is outside the warranty period then Sony have no responsibility here, you would need to involve the retailer for any remedy.

Did you purchase directly from Sony?  How long have you had the TV?

    How old is the TV?

Your statutory rights with a retailer is basically 6 years (England and Wales) so that may be an option but they are entitled to deduct use from any refund and if its over 5 years old the amount of refund you'll get will be very small
  • I have now had the TV 5 years and 11 days and reported the issue to Sony on the 23rd October the day after the TV stopped working. I had also done an update on the TV a week before it started to switch itself off. The TV was purchased from Currys.

TBH at that age, just buy a new one.

You would be needing to get a 3rd party report stating a inherent fault.
Then if you could get Currys to do anything under your consumer rights, you would be looking at getting 1/6 at best of the price you paid.

As far as warranty. Given they already have said no.
