Hi everyone,
I'm feeling very sorry for myself as I have another lurgy, a coughing bug this time. We were supposed to go down to Dorset to visit the elderly relatives we always visit when SiL comes down but I shall stay here, I don't want to risk passing this on.
However, it's just as well because we had a bit of a disaster this weekend. The family were flying to Iceland for a big group holiday with friends but Laura wasn't allowed on the flight because her passport wasn't current enough since Brexit even though it has 6 months before expiry. We had to go and get her and Esther (luckily Luton airport is only 35 minutes away) and Brian went off with Esben. She's gone up to Peterborough to plead for an appointment today but if not she has an appointment for tomorrow morning. At least I'll be able to take her to the airport if she manages to get sorted before the others get back from Poole.
Gers, enjoy your trip.
Mehefin, that poor pup and your friend, they must feel terrible.
Have a good day.11 -
Morning all
It’s a bit damp and chilly here with rain due later the washing will have to stay indoors again.
Just waiting for Rob to arrive and then we will go and meet friends and have a walk around the lake and have coffee in the lakeside cafe. Tomorrow we are going to the cinema to see some robot film that one of them wanted to see.
Dinner tonight will be the left over roast from yesterday so nice and easy it will just need heating through it was very tasty.
I will walk the dogs this morning before we meet our friends.
Have good days all and take care xx11 -
Morning! Not raiing but quite dull...Kitchen bloke is coming this morning to discuss, I am umming and aahing about it. The bathroom downstairs went in yesterday so there's another functioing toilet [excellent for double toilet emergenices
but no door on there yet...] but the shower won't work properly until we have a new boiler [ next big job] I am reading along but I'm still full of chest nastiness so I'm exhausted after even showering. We did go to the WI quiz on Saturday, came 6th, but it's a fun night out and I won a bottle of Glenfiddich I'l be hiding from the OH [ mine I tell you!] We sneaked out before the table and chairs putting away because I look OK,but just can't do it and then I feel guilty for not doing it. And we went to watch venom last night but the screen was awful, really dark, even the daylight scenes looked like twilight.
mehefin, what an awful thing, poor dog! well done for riding to the rescue. camelot, i have a load of bulbs to put in too, but haven't the energy yet. Izzy, still hereyou might as well go if you can, and don't worry, everyone else will be either looking at themselves or too busy worrying about what they look like to see if you've eaten fudge or not
I saw a little facebook reel once, I think I saved it, about being on the beach and not really looking at anyone else anyway, plus even if someone looks, they're just one of billions of people you'll never meet again
snoozer, what an absolute pain, hope she gets a new one pdq! Gers, have a great time! Hugs to the poorlies, take care all, go and seize some days!

Morning all, it's back to rain this morning. Most of the conifer tops are off now and just the sides need trimming up. I'm hoping it's the green waste collection tomorrow as the bins are full but I can't remember which week we're in so I'll have to follow my neighbours lead.
I was watching a programme about the big freeze of '63 last night and I wondered how people would cope now. It's food for thought, I went down the rabbit hole with that one and it had me mentally checking for candles etc 😂
DGS has invited himself for a sleepover tonight so I have to make up the bed in the spare bedroom, other than that I'll be just pottering around the house. I have to empty the dw when it's done it's thing and I must remember to alter the bedside clock, I had to work out the proper time every time I woke up during the night 🤔 !
Snoozer oh dear hope everything gets sorted asap. Sorry you are feeling poorly again, get well soon.
taff look after yourself, gentle hugs from a distance.
Camelot enjoy your time with DGD, sadly it doesn't last very long as they grow up so quickly. DGD is 13 this week !!
Sorry I now have forgotten who said what, sincere apologies.
Take care all, stay safe, warm and dry if you can.

Morning, damp and drizzly again. DH has gone to check something out, and possibly call in for the new firebricks he ordered for the woodburner. The chimney sweep is coming on Thursday. We haven't used it yet but it won't be long I don't think. Half term here, DGS comes back from his weekend in Yorkshire later, one of their favourites so they've been to Bolton Abbey & Brimham rocks
Nan your DGS reaction to girls sounds familiar
, he was the same when DGD had her birthday sleepover
The lamb chops from the butcher were delicious last night, with roasties, diced roasted swede for me, veg then apple crumble. Not sure what to do for tonight but the freezers seem to be getting full again!Redecoration of the kitchen has stretched into the living room as I've ordered a new rug, and a runner for the hall.Snoozer, what a shame about the passport, hope it gets sorted & you feel better soon, and the others who are unwell.DH met the man half of the new next door but 1 neighbours last night, he nipped out to the car for something to find a parcel left on our step in the rain so he took it to them. It had their address on too, but no-one rang our doorbell. Hope the contents were ok,'cos it was pretty soggy!Take care all xRight I need to get the dog bedding in the wash amongst other things:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'.
