i have been off work since mid April, I’ve been getting full pay until mid August. I was then on 1/2 pay with SSP included. My payroll dept has advised that the SSP runs out the 1st week of November. I was under the impression it’s paid for 28 weeks but from August to November won’t have been 28 weeks!

It could have also been paid within the full pay so likely started in April. If so that would make it about 28 weeks. You can claim new style ESA if you've paid enough NI contributions once SSp ends and I believe you can still be paid this alongside the half pay.

Many employers include SSP as part of full and half pay calculations and it would seem that is what this employer has done. The OP needs to put in a claim for New Style ESA and will need the SSP1 form from the employer to forward to DWP when they make their claim. They will also need the medical certificate (Fit Note).

SSP runs from day 4 of your first sick note to your employers. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0

eg if your full pay is £200 a week
Your employer claims SSP of £116.75 and then put £83.25 to it to make £2000 -
