First time claiming UC

Hi so me and my husband got our tax credits notice to move to UC, we will be doing this mid November and I'm just wondering about the ID check that follows. Can you pick which day you go in as my husband works full time Monday to Friday and will be tricky to go in mid week also can you give your bank statements online only or do that need paper statements first.
We are completely new to UC so have a lot of questions.
Thanks

I'm self employed on UC and they offered me an appointment on a Saturday - if they give you an appointment that you can't make, call them straight away or leave a note on your journal and explain, generally they seem to be pretty amenable to any change. Re ID check I seem to recall I had to take paper bank statements in with me on my first appointment. One thing - my partner and I were given separate appointments with different work coaches, apparently that's what they do with couples who are claiming, although that may not be the case at your local centre.anthem88 said:Hi so me and my husband got our tax credits notice to move to UC, we will be doing this mid November and I'm just wondering about the ID check that follows. As part of UC online sign up process most people are able to verify their ID online. And once claim set up, if you need to provide Bank statements to confirm savings amount held, this can be done as an upload on the UC claim.
If your husband is employed full time, if they can verify ID online they may not need to attend Job Centre. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0 -
Usually you can upload docs required.Life in the slow lane1

I wasn't asked for bank statements for either current or savings accounts. I was just asked for the account numbers0

When claiming UC for the first time they don't usually ask for bank statements if you have capital of less than £6,000. They should also only ask for bank account details of the bank you want your money paid into.marcia_ said:I wasn't asked for bank statements for either current or savings accounts. I was asked for details of all accounts and we have nowhere near £6000poppy12345 said:

What if you don't receive any paper bills like for most companies? Including banks?Carefulspender1 said:

I'm actually surprised they're asking for 'hard copies' in this day and age.1 -
I agree - it seems that every centre is different and ours is a bit behind the times!Conrad3000 said:
