Plumber

Hello,
I asked a plumber to replace a tap and sent pictures. He said he preferred to see it and have a proper look. He popped over on a Monday and gave a quotation. He said he would order the accessory needed that will be delivered the following day and he will fit it on Friday. It is already Saturday, The item was not delivered, he said the supplier did not get back to him, he did not have a date from the supplier and could not guarantee it will be delivered by Monday. The tap really needed to be replaced as it has now been a week. I politely asked him to cancel the job as somebody else could do it the same day and he could not tell me when he will get the parts and do it. He is asking me for £20 for the house visit for the quotation and to send the accessory back to the supplier (that has not been delivered not he had heard from the supplier). I am confused, can anyone advice on this, please? Be nice, please

I would tell him to get lost. Hes done nothing3

If you live in tight knit community you may want to consider paying him. You wouldn't want to have a "mallachd".3

If he didn't make it clear he was charging for assessing the job then he can't retrospectively change that. If he's a decent plumber he will probably have an account with the supplier that allows him to cancel an order he hasn't received yet, anyway.2

Many thanks everyone for your answers.
