Morning everyone
I've had a nice chat with eldest DD...and her cat!...while I was still in bed...lovely start to my day.
DD and little one came round to nursery yesterday to show me her pumpkins in her hair...they did look so cute. She had stood up in front of everyone in assembly and told them why she was raising money for the hospital...some of the mums told me later that she'd done so well. Their fundraising money has short up, they're only £34 short of their £500 target now.
Another little girl had her hair done with 2 buns but with white tissue over to make little ghosts and lots had spikes and coloured hair spray, which I would not want to wash off!
Unfortunately she had an upset tummy yesterday afternoon, so didn't come up for her planned sleepover - she might come tonight if she's ok.
I need to go and collect my stained glass this morning, so will call at mam and dads on my way, in case I don't get tomorrow. Dad had his first afternoon with a carer from the new company yesterday so hopefully it will have gone well. From next week they will go on Monday and Friday, so mam will be back to getting her respite time.
It looks like it will be a nice day today so I'll put a dark wash on before I go out.
Rosy red - I often tell our nursery parents to enjoy the time while they're little...I certainly appreciate my time with little one.
Right I better get moving, hope everyone has a good day x
Wicked lady - that sounds like a great evening
Gers - Oh I can't wait till mam gets that letter...she'll paraphrase it in exactly the same irritation! x11 -
Morning all, the sun is out !! Yesterday I plodded around with my long handled duster and flicked it at the walls, skirtings and pictures/photos on the walls upstairs, then did a few small jobs that needed attention but had been put on the back burner.
Today the wm is on so I'll chance putting it outside ( the washing not the machine !) and then I'll strip the bed and wash the bedding. Later I'm going to dust and hoover the bedroom and then remake the bed. That lot will take me most of the day as I have to have lots of rest/coffee breaks in between, got to pace myself you know. We've had "the letter" this week too 😠
Take care all, hugs to the poorly ones.
nan xx

Morning all
Dull and overcast here but we are promised some sun this afternoon, so we will take the dogs out then.
The car was picked up yesterday and we convoyed home it’s lovely and big and clean, OH has a habit of using his cars like dustbins so I hope this one is kept clean at least for a while.
I have just hung the first load of washing on the airer and have another load in the wm, it’s DD’s summer duvet so I thought I would give it a boil wash before putting it away.
Dinner tonight will be burger in a bun with chips OH cooks on Saturday so a night off for me.
DD has gone to see her friends baby who is one today but should be back by lunch time.
Have good days all and take care xx9 -
Morning folks and thanks GERS. I haven't had "the letter" yet to make me grit my teeth.
I am a latecomer this morning but the day has run away from me. An early phone call from DF in Oz set me back a bit from the word go. In readiness for all the dental work planned from the middle of Nov I have been batch cooking various soups to freeze as the Dentist told me I can expect much pain and soreness and will probably find eating difficult. Just hope I can manage soup at least!
I recorded the James Nesbitt DNA journey the other day and watched it last night. The story of his grandfather in WW1 has prompted me to get out all my ancestry stuff, especially my own grandad's file. He was an ambulance driver in France in the war and I can only imagine the traumatic sights he saw. I have a lot of photos of him in uniform, some on a motor bike and some with the ambulances. I would love to try and find out more as, like all the other servicemen at the time, I was never aware of him talking about the Great War. I was 17 when he died and I regret never asking him about it. I don't even know what regiment he was in and sadly there is no-one left to ask. I have some beautiful French silk handkerchiefs, edged with fine lace, that he brought back for my grandma.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need. Take care all, stay safe xx

Hello, everyone! It's a sunny, going to be warm day here in Florida.
Dear husband had surgery Thursday and, as the old saying goes, doctors make the WORST patients. He won't stay in bed, he won't stop talking as directed by the surgeon, he is just being an all-around pain. Sleep has been very spotty for us the last 4 nights so I'm hoping to get a nap later.
He cannot chew food so I've been pureeing soups for him. Also made some rice congee and he likes that. I plan to make a pot of rice pudding (which i also love). I will make some potato soup for later.
Other than that, I will just be puttering around, tidying up. We have children coming to visit in a few weeks so some housecleaning must be done.6 -
@TravellingAbuela - you should be able to find out more about your granddad's military service on the Archives' web site. There are also military records on the FindMyPast website which is free to use at a LDS FamilySearch Centre. If you can't find more about him, send me a PM with his name and birth date and I will see if I can find anything. I think this is what Remembrance Day is meant for.5

Good evening from Mehefinland ( now that's a change for me!!)
Well today ahs been a real rollercoaster. MY friend and neighbour how is a registered dog carer rang just gone 8 this morning asking for my help. One of her charges had somehow had a spat with one of the others and its eye had come out!!! An emergency vet's appointment arranged but she couldn't drive and hold the dog. Then to top it all she had forgotten to plug her car in ( the perils of electric) and very few miles left. legged it back home and got my car and we shot off to the vets , blood everywhere and the eye in a piece of tissue . Poor little dog was not in a good state. The outcome was it was hospitalised and operated on this afternoon. The eye of course could not be replaced. My friend was in bits as she felt guilty, and when she eventually contacted the pooch's owners ( who were in Orlando) they were as nice as pie. The offending dog has been sent elsewhere as she couldn't risk it with the others she was looking after. It sounds like it has defensive issues and poor little chap was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
After that excitement we got back home and I arranged a bale of Haylage from my usual farmer, who tells me that he has very low stocks and it may be the last one!! EEK! I now have to source more going into the winter if I can. He did say he would see if he had any he could put aside for me, but I am not holding too much hope on that. I go through about a bale every 3 weeks to a month so its a long time to next harvest. He does have round bale silage and hay but they are much more difficult to use, but may end up with no option.
In better news, DS's ex GF has just got engaged. She has been through the mill in the last few years and had a particularly debillitating stroke aged 27 and has had a pretty rough time. Nearly lost her sight and ended up in a mobility device for a time. DS has no contact but we ( Dawn and I) kept an eye on her from a distance so to speak, as she was a nice girl and it was a shame it didn't work out for them.
GERS - I know so many who have had 'that letter'. Shame they wasted all that money on that instead of usefully deploying where needed- it's not as if most of us were not expecting it ( ie not getting the cash)
Hugs and spoons as always
Mehefin aka Derek
