Deprivation of assets for Social Care Funding assessment

Hi Elsien yes we agree the system discriminates against age. That infuriates me and scares me for the future.
Just skimmed that case.. the lady in question seems to be at a stage where a care home might be the best place for her. if she cannot recognise her own home and is confused.. thats a little different to someone with capacity being forced into a care home.
The council in that case repeatedly stated they dont offer live-in care... that is where I and the care act take issue... ver much doubt theyd get away with saying that to a working age person. Thankfully people in the online communities i use for social care have live-in carers including a grandparent age.
If the person in opening post still is able to live a full life at home and has capacity, awareness of where she is.. the fact she has four visits and may need more should not automatically mean she moves to a care home.. the case above states that. (but in that case the lady seemed to lack awareness, confused and care home may be better)

HobgoblinBT said:OP, does mother in law receive attendance allowance? If she requires 4 care visits per day, it sounds like she needs quite a lot of assistance so may be eligible.0
