That is short sighted. A lot of companies hid the cost of this in the premium in the past. By stripping it out, the annual premium is lower and you only pay a fee on change. Which for most people isnt very often.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -

But you talked with your feet by going to a company that rewards customers who do not have to amend their policies by removing the cost of customer service from their premium!0 -

You may not have seen it before but it's quite common plcae now.any comp trys to charge me that i will talk with my feet
You may well find that those that don't charge an explicit fee actually charge higher premiums up-front as it has to be paid for somewhere, so what you have said means you will be walking towards a high premium. That's not necessarily a good move if you don't plan to change car or house.
There is a guide called matthewsguide.co.uk that someone has put together for this purpose.
Part of it is free and part if it you have to pay £1.99 for (and I think there is an offer on legal cover).
I haven't used it so this isn't a recommendation but thought it's worth letting people know that such a thing exists.
Alternatively you can simply read the policy before you buy (many are available on-line as pdfs) but I guess the guide avoids you doing the legwork.0 -
Thanks Catherine, I was beginning to wish I hadn't asked.
I hope in the future I don't forget that I was new on here once.
You are welcome Mark. I see that others have been helpful to your post since, which is nice to see. It can be un-nerving when joining and posting your first comment is always the worst. You asked a very valid question. Yes, it has been asked and answered before but only regular, seasoned users would know this and you are quite within your rights to ask the question again. Hopefully you are now in 'the know' and I was wondering, did you manage to get any of the charge refunded?0
