HDMI chromebook to TV

My wife’s deteriorating vision means that she can no longer see the TV.  I have bought a 14” one that sits on a small table beside a chair.

I used an HDMI cable to link it to my chromebook so that she could use Amazon and other websites.

However although the home page appears on the TV it remains there when I move to any web page.

I presume there is a technical reason for this and wonder if there is any way around it

in the display settings on the chomebook you need to specify that the monitor ( thats what the tv is ) duplicates your screen - I think you probably have it set to "extend"...
  • Should have added that she is very non techie so I have to do all the chromebook stuff

I presume all chromebooks are the same..........

  • hi
    shortcuts may also help
To mirror your Chromebook's screen, you can use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Shift + O.
To extend your screen, (which is what you want) you can use the keyboard shortcut Search + Alt + M
    or Launcher + Alt + M.
     depending on your Chromebook model
