New Style ESA & Salary Deductions

Good Afternoon
I hope you can assist me with a question.
I have been receiving New Style ESA since 2 August 2024 due to being on long-term sick leave, as my SSP has expired. I have been assessed and will transition to the ESA Support Group on 7 November 2024.
I have accumulated a significant amount of annual leave and have been ‘cashing in’ some of this leave to receive income, for example, the equivalent of 10 working days each month. However, my employer, the Ministry of Defence, has been deducting the ESA I receive from these payments instead of annual leave.
My question is: is this correct? I cannot find any policy that specifically addresses this situation, although I have found references to pension deductions, etc. Additionally, what would be the situation when I move onto the higher rate of ESA on 7 November 2024?
Any assistance or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Kind regards,
Sharon Docherty

I think this will be down to the ministry of defence policies, do you have access to them?0

Sounds very odd. Not heard of this before.
Does not appear to be something that benefits would require. As already advised, speak to someone at MOD about this.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.1
