Burglar alarm maintenance contract quote

Hi,

I've been quoted £75 + VAT for the annual maintenance contract on an already fitted alarm. Standard system for a three bedroom bungalow, nothing special.

Does this seem reasonable?

Thanks.

  • What are there charges should they find anything wrong
Does the maintenance include parts and labour?
What is there hourly labour charge?
How long before they do not maintain system e.g. some firms will not maintain system over certain number of years old
Do they have call out charge for system resetting in event of an Alarm
    Is it a visual only?
How many times do they visit the site?
Is the system on red care or alike
Can you provide parts to them if not what is there mark up on materials supplied (whilst all firms should be allowed to charge administration for materials supplied time to get them etc some will charge extremely high charges its ok for them to have a mark up but they should not mind you knowing what it is ?)
Do there charges increase at weekends evening etc should the alarm need reseting
Are they the registered key holders with local police

Thanks for the reply. That will give me plenty to go with when I call them up.

I have an annual maintenance contact on a 4 bed house which costs me just under £50. This includes an annual visit to check it. No other frills, though emergency callout is a priority for contract holders.

Thanks Debbie - that's what I thought might be a reasonable figure. As it so happens my wife has managed to get in touch with a previous (and trusted) maintenance provider who I thought had retired but has not. He is coming round soon, so I'll see what he has to say, but at least I now have a benchmark.
