We don't really think about it very much. Trickle vents are all open, the front and back doors are opened several times a day (not left open, but equally people aren't in any unusual haste going through them until it gets really cold). Windows are mostly opened whenever we feel we want/need some fresh air in any particular room; my bedroom windows are not quite on the latch but not fully closed either, and the bathroom window is opened after every shower and after any smells. Kitchen window tends to be opened if the extractor fan isn't keeping up with the steam.
Our heating is on all day until 11pm (heat pump with TRVs on rads, thermostat set to 18℃ and located in the coldest living space. We found out this year after having it off until late September that whether the heating is on or off it still consumes a vampire load between 50-75kWh in a month for 'heating', so we may as well get some actual heat for that consumption anyway!) We recognise we're fortunate not to have to *worry* about the cost of keeping warm enough.0 -
All of our windows have trickle vents which we leave open in all but the very coldest of weather.
The two kitchen windows are open if we are cooking because it just gets too hot in there with them closed and we also use the extractor hood. We also use the patio doors in there several times a day to access the garden or driveway so the kitchen is always well aired.
The ensuite window is opened whenever we have had a shower as well as using the extractor fan so that room is well aired as well.
The other rooms tend to have the windows opened as and when required. But at least once a week we open all of the windows in the house for at least 15-20 minutes to air the house though thoroughly.0 -
Trickle vents over double-glazing open all the time with additional windows open now and then at front and back for an hr or so, to flow air through the building. The double-glazing here is 20 years old, so replacing sizeable glazed units with Argon filled units.... Was amazed to see misting on the outside of the unit rather than condensation on the inside!0

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.0 -

Really - I have had double glazing for prob 20 years plus - same company over time - and always condensation on outside, very, very rarely on inside.
I never dry clothes inside other than in an outside venting tumble dryer or outside hung on a line until dry.0 -
I like to have some fresh air in the room too and I'm a "normally have the window open an inch" sort of person.
I think there's a phrase, "you don't keep warm air in, you keep cold air out". when it starts to get frosty, I'll probably open windows for 5 minutes per day on either side of the house to get a waft of through-draft for a few minutes, then have them closed0
