Currys trade-in discount

A few months ago, I bought a new Samsung Watch6 from Currys, with a £50 refund for trading in my old watch. My old watch was in excellent condition, fully working, not a scratch on it, and I'd been wearing it every day up until when I bought the new one.
I sent the watch to Currys in good faith, but Currys responded saying that they could only refund me £1 due to the condition of the watch, or return it to me. When I asked what they meant, they sent me a photo of a watch that had the back all prised open and broken and said that that's how they received it. I've been trying to argue that this is definitely not my watch, but they just keep telling me they can return it to me, and they are refusing to respond to my request for them to prove that this is how they received the watch from me.
I have no proof that my watch was in excellent condition when I sent it to them, so I can't help feeling that this is perhaps some sort of scam by the warehouse people (perhaps they have been able to claim the £50 for themselves, and then return any old broken watch to me).
What are my rights here? Is there anything I can do?

Not a samsung/android user but in the Apple world your core iCloud account lists all your devices including the serial numbers and so hopefully Samsung/Google do something similar? Should then be a simple case of asking them for a photo of the watch's serial number (or seeing if you can see it in the image already provided) to see if it matches1
