Childcare Vouchers Error

Hoping someone might be able to help, I use the salary sacrifice for childcare vouchers, in October last year I changed the amount from £100 to £180. Duly thereafter I received a £180 voucher. In August I no longer required the vouchers so cancelled them completely. I was looking forward to the extra say £140 (£180 - tax and NI etc) back in my salary last month. But when I noticed it the same the following month, I contacted the voucher company, they hadn’t taken the voucher so I contacted accounts, they said they’d reverse it out the next month. Next payday is today and I was expecting around £280 extra in my salary as two months vouchers worth, I received an extra £160. Confused I started to pull up my payslips and I discovered that not only did they not check last month but they haven’t checked at all. All of my payslips this past year show £100 voucher and not £180.

Voucher company told me how it works on the 13th of each month they send an invoice to the company with all the voucher amounts two weeks prior to payday and then the money is paid via BACs to them. They in turn then supply the voucher.

So now I’m not only disappointed I didn’t get the extra money I’ve been really hoping for but I’m worried about it, as it looks like they’ve over paid me. I’ve emailed them to highlight it but no response thus far.

I’m really annoyed that this is all their fault, and I’m penalised as a result, has anyone any experience of anything similar or in accounts/payroll that might advise.

It may not be the childcare vouchers fault, it could be your employer. How did you tell them you wanted to opt out? Was it through a flexible benefits platform run by your employer?

But surely this is as much your fault as payrolls? You haven't been checking your payslips for at least a year.

Did you not notice the amount you received did not go down when you increased the vouchers from £100 to £180?
