ATTENDANCE ALLOWANCE

My Mother has been living in a care home for the past 7 years and during this time has been paying her own care home fees from her savings.  The local council have just confirmed that they are going to take over the payment of her care home fees as her savings have now dropped below the £23,250 threshold but she still has to contribute over £600 per week to the council towards her care home fees until her savings drop to £14,250.  My question is - is she still entitled to Attendance Allowance?  I have searched for this answer on the internet but I can only find the answer for self-funding or fees paid by the local council, not half-way in between.  Has anyone else been in this situation please?

No, she will not be entitled to AA, the minute the Local Authority start contributing. You will need to let the AA unit know. She will get a four week run on though

Once someone is LA funded they will be contributing most of their income, so if they still got AA all of that would be added to that contribution so your mother would not benefit, so the whole exercise would be pointless which is why she will no longer get it.
