ISSUE WITH NEIGHBOUR PUTTING UP A FENCE

Hi Folks
My neighbour has put up a small fence around his front lawn. Nobody in the street has done that, and the neighbour's property seems to stick out from the rest of the properties in the street
Are there any rules as to whether you can put up a fence around your front lawn, or any height restrictions?
Where could I get more info regarding this?
Thanks in advance for your responses.

Look at your deeds to see if there is anything, if there is then download their deeds and check they also have the same restriction.
Sometimes there are restrictions which may include a height.
Why do you care, what is it doing that affects you?1 -
I've been through this. If the front gardens are open plan there may be (probably is) a restriction placed on 'any permanent structure'. Contact your local council estates department. Also as above, check for any restrictive covenant on your and their deeds. Although as it has already been done, it may be you who has to go to court to get it removed if it turns out to be against the rules - the council may tell the neighbour to remove it but they are unlikely to take the time or expense to force it.
Adjacent to a highway the limit is 1 metre; if it's back from the road or not near the road its 2 metre.
Don't contact the planning department unless it's over these heights; planning have no interest in covenants or other non-planning restrictions (This was what caused the original problem with mine, the neighbour said Planning had told them it was fine; they hadn't even looked at other legal restrictions)0 -

There are often height restrictions set under Permitted Development rules or Local Authority Bylaws. I think the heigh limit is usually around 1m to 1.2m.0 -
It might be beneficial to adopt a "live and let live" attitude regarding the neighbor's new fence. While it's natural to notice differences in property appearances, embracing diversity in neighborhood aesthetics can foster a more harmonious community.

What harm is this fence actually doing to the OP? Assuming the answer is 'none' they all they will do by pursuing the issue is fall out permanently with the neighbour. Is it worth it?
