Bathroom Extract fan failure

Back in July 24 we had a local company supply and fit an extract fan in our bathroom. This was a new installation and I allowed their judgement in choice of fan and location. My only stipulation was that I wanted a quiet fan so as not to disturb us at night.
The installation went well and for three weeks we were pleased with the fan.
Then it got noisy ( middle of August) and I reported it to the company who supplied and installed it. They said someone would be out to look at it. After a week or so, nobody had been so I called to let them know we were going away for a few days and didn’t want someone turning up and wasting their time to find we were not there. The receptionist said fine, we will leave it until ‘next week’.
When we got back from our short break (6th Sept) the fan worked for 2 days then died completely.
Still nobody has been out to look at it/ repair or replace. I’m disappointed. We have few options here and I don’t want to fall out with this company.
Hubby has been into their office and reminded them and the response was that we ‘are on the list’. However another month has now passed and still no word.
I’m aware other people have much more concerning issues, and the company is really busy. But they first came to install the fan within one week of us asking, so I’m disappointed they cannot manage to come back and fix/ replace/ repair/ review in more than 2 months.
I’m sure my ‘rights’ are repair/replace but how do I ‘nicely’ enforce those rights? I’m planning to phone them tomorrow but I don’t know what to say except ‘pretty please’ and clearly that hasn’t worked so far!

There's not much you can do without taking a harder stance, which might be suggesting you get a quote for a third party to inspect and fix/replace the fan and then pass the bill onto the original company.
It's either that, or hope continued polite pestering does the job.1 -
Thanks.I did have a further discussion and they are going to look into it.Not holding my breath..,0

If you reported the fan wasn't working correctly after 3 weeks then that's in the time-frame of the short term right to reject (30 days).
This will have paused until they have sorted it out. I think after the delay you have I'd be looking for a full refund of the total cost including installation.

Thanks for the replies.I have called them again.I was told that the job has possibly been overlooked as they have someone off sick. The admin assistant promised to ‘look into it’.0

well, I received a call this morning to say they are coming to install a new fan tomorrow! The excuse was that everybody thought that somebody had already been out, but nobody had, and somebody hadn’t noticed that the new fan was still sitting in the back of his van.1

True to their word, the electrician was here at 8am and replaced the fan. He could see it was faulty- one of the blades was hitting the casing - causing the noise. Simply replaced.Let’s hope this new one lasts longer than 3 weeks!2
