Heathrow T5 Drop Off PCN - Do I have to pay?

I've looked at other posts but can't find the same situation as mine.
The car is registered to me but my husband was driving when we drove to Heathrow for our holiday flights. It was nearing 4pm, we were stressed, we're from S Wales and got lost looking for the Meet & Greet. Although we'd been once before, it was with a different company that went bust but their directions to the parking area were perfect. This time we had booked through Holiday Extras and the directions were not so clear and we managed to unwittingly drive into the Drop Off parking area. To be honest, I really can't remember whether we stopped at all for me to try to work out where we'd gone wrong or if we just drove straight through. No barrier for us to have to make a payment. The PCN shows the car in 2 positions with the time being 15:37.
I've read that I'm not obliged to divulge who the driver was.
We did go into the wrong zone so I don't mind paying the £5 fee that I should have paid - apparently online according to the Heathrow website.
There was no barrier for us to know a payment was due or to prevent us driving off without paying.
The first we knew was coming home to the PCN.
Any advice would be welcome. £40 if we pay early seems to be taking the mickey!

Of course you don't pay why would you.
These are a cinch to beat2 -
The whole thing is a con to make money there are loads of examples on here of how to get this cancelled in one.Airports are not relevant land and the keeper cannot be held liable by a private parking company.

Just use the usual appeal seen in the Heathrow Drop off Group Thread.
You can't lose.
There's also zero risk. There is no dilemma.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
CLICK at the top or bottom of any page where it says:
Home»Motoring»Parking Tickets Fines & Parking - read the NEWBIES THREAD1 -
Thank you everybody. Sent the appeal on 27.10.24 and received email today saying they are "using their discretion" to cancel the PCN. My email stated there was nothing to say a payment would be required as I copied it, but they say there are signs everywhere. We got lost and ended up going that way by mistake. I don't remember seeing signs but if there were you would expect to have to pay to get out.
Anyway, thanks again for helping with this.2
