I am currently having issues with the HGV training. In September 2023 I went to a training school and was informed about training, I was led to believe I would be in a classroom setting for theory test practice. I was a bit concerned because at the time I had a very sore back. I paid £100 for a medical at the training school and in the medical my back was not examined or questioned. When I said to the school instructor he said everything will be fine as trucks are automatic. I paid £2,200 and was sent through log in details for theory practice. I had a few goes and was doing well, I did ask the trainer about the classroom setting and was told I must have miss understood and if "someone needed help to pass their theory they must be pretty stupid". By late September I was legally told I was disabled, I have the disabled badge and letters to state this. I told the trainer that I was now disabled and cannot complete the training due to this, as I wouldn't be able to to complete even the safety checks due to the disability. I was then told that there are no refunds. Emails back and forth to him asking why I cannot be refunded as they have literally done nothing except take my money, they haven't supported me in any way. They still refuse any money back despite me now being disabled and unable to complete training, he has told me that he is still willing to train me and that he has trained a paraplegic person for hgv. He has said that he will increase the training period from 1 year to complete for another 6-12 months despite showing i am disabled.
Is there anything anyone can say to help me? I feel that I have just gave him £2,200 to hold and he is refusing to give any of it back!

What do the contractual terms and conditions say about withdrawing from the programme prematurely?0 -

It is not a full medical that will check everything.
Given you took part in a good % of the course, & hold a full driving licence. Theory should be a piece of cake.
Having a Blue Badge does not stop you driving a HGV, so long as you pass the medical.
