Penalty free tariff switching

I'm close to 49 days before my fix ends, which has a £75 per fuel exit fee.
I understand that I can switch to another energy provider penalty free when within 49 days of the end of the contract, but what I'm unsure of is whether this also applies when switching to another fix with the same company.
Can anyone advise if this is the case?
I've emailed the company but not yet had a reply.
Thanks for any help.

Thank you. It's Octopus I'm with too. My contract end date is 10 December so tomorrow should be 'freedom day' 😀0

Another one on Octopus did the same 48 days out
Initially told my switch would start when my old ended but happened a couple of days later1 -
Yes I also did this earlier this year with Octopus, can confirm there weren't any charges. Have to say I had no idea this was a thing 'til I saw someone on here mention it this year, it's not a very well publicized bit of information by these companies.1

Thanks everyone. I emailed Octopus today, (49 days out) and had a reply very quickly.
It was a bit ambiguous. The reply said to contact them again in 48 hours when I'd be within the timeframe for a swap. It also said a second email was sent with the new contract details. This one said reply immediately and the contract would start today.
I emailed again for clarification (thinking the original message implied a fee would be incurred if I didn't wait 48 hours), and this evening received a reply saying they had done the swap for me, effective tomorrow.
All in all, a good outcome.

If you don't want to count back the days to find the allowable switch date, as a rule of thumb, you are OK to switch as soon as you get the email about your tariff ending soon.2
