Only place I can safely put blinds in bedroom is in the pvc of window frame,

But doing so means I cannot open the windows, well they open but a few mm at most I have managed to open them fully but then I cannot close them without lifting blinds off their sides which is a nightmare.
Thinking of adding a tiny piece of wood each side of window meaning I have around a inch gap to open the window, as is there is barely enough gap at each side to fit the screw in parts (can't remember name) that the blinds push into, as per previous thread I tried putting the blinds directly into the wall but they kept ripping out the wall plugs when I pulled the cable, even tried self tapping wall plugs with same issue, worked for a few days at most.

We have upvc windows and doors in our kitchen and blinds have been fitted that sit on top of the frames and have a little lever that you use to slide them up and down. They sit in the middle of the doors and windows and are neat and not too obvious. Could you do that instead?0

If you have tilt and turn windows, B&Q has some Day and Night blinds that hook over the top of the open window, This is what I used as my window opened further than the window frame. I think this isn't an option on their largest size though.Otherwise have a look at Perect Fit blinds. What kind of blind are you using?0

I have turn and tilt yes, and using a large roller blackout blind.

Would something like this work, obviously you would have one that went on a window, not door:

Not ideal for a tilt and turn TBH. Possibly with decent wall plugs but you will always have the window opening further that the wall I'd imagine.

Our daughter has found that with tilt and turn you either need to fit wider blinds that sit outside the reveal, actually above the window opening, on the wall of the room, or the perfect fit type that clip to the opening part, just covering the glass. The perfect fit ones are very neat.

when I looked at perfect fit style blinds, they seemed to take up a lot of room within the window. With narrow windows I was worried they would block quite a bit of light to the room.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
