What rounding unit do you use?
I ask, because I used to tell my colleagues that honestly, no-one cared about their timesheet being accurate to the minute: I myself used to work to the nearest 15, and I'd round down as often as I rounded up. If you're working with 5 minute chunks, it seems to me that absorbing 'filling out the timesheet' ought not to be too difficult, but obviously if you're working in 1 minute chunks that's a bit harder.
Note that we weren't billing anyone for our time: it was just 'good practice' record keeping, to make sure people weren't working silly hours and not taking any TOIL (or on the very very rare occasion, not working their full hours!)
Oh, and what DullGreyGuy said too: if there's an issue with NMW then your case is immeasurably strengthened.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Also to add that our working day started when we arrived in the office, and finished when we left, and we took lunchbreaks of at least half an hour - lunchbreaks weren't in our working hours, but no-one batted an eyelid if you took a smoking break, or a loo break, or a must-dash-to-my-favourite-cafe-for-a-takeaway-coffee break other than during your lunch break. I realise that if you're logging time on a range of different projects then that's a lot more difficult, but (generally) our managers realised that just because you weren't sat at your desk or with a client, you were probably still thinking about work!Signature removed for peace of mind0
