In an 18 month tenancy and wasn’t told about 10 months of cladding remediation. Living in hell!

Shouldn’t the tenants also have been made aware that the flat was a fire risk at the present time? That the works were to ensure the safety of the property can hardly reasonably be described as minor, which was what they were told.

A key fact is how certain the landlord was as to when the work will start. Big difference between the managing agents saying they hope to do the work soon and a definite date being given.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. This was happening in the area I left earlier this year, residents were made aware works would commence from Feb/March onwards and scaffolding/road closures started spring/summer on the various apartment blocks. The works were well overdue partly because of where the apartments were situated, the land owner was objecting to scaffold placements and how it would affect the offices/retail units below. Sadly many of those who took up a tenancy from the start of this year were not informed by the letting agents what was about to happen. The person who viewed my old place in Feb was blissfully unaware they'd have no balcony overlooking the dock for roughly 12 months and I was present during their viewing as I'd been waiting in for the site inspector for the pre-work checks so I let them know much to the letting agents horror!1
