Road Closed at Certain times (school roads)

Options

Hi.

May I ask if these are worth a punt at Appealing. Anyone had any success?

I'm pictured going down a road which is closed at these times. I was turning right onto the closed road. So the signs are not immediately clear.

I live nearby. I use the road regularly. I hadn't noticed these before.

I find it frustrating and nefarious the council have these fines on signs, which I don't find obvious when being vigilant driving the car.

Any suggestions I'd greatly appreciate it.

Please don't reply if you don't have any experience in this specific issue.

"Well you need to pay attention" isn't going to help.

Many thanks in advance

Cheers!

Since we specialise in parking charge notices from unregulated private parking companies on this forum, you would be better taking this over to our friends on the FTLA forum as they are the council and police motoring experts.

  • Hello, in our area, appeals were successful on school strike days when no pupils were in. During school holidays the signs are removed.

Volunteers (usually parents) block the road during these times so it is obvious to drivers that they can’t enter during these times. If cars try to leave during these times they will always get a fine.

In my area, two schools have similar signs but they put up metal barriers across the road when the children are actually leaving school so it's obvious you can't drive through.

Just recently another two others have had these signs erected but they're on a bus route so no barriers so unless you can rapidly read the times when turning into the road (as you did) you're caught. I don't know if these have cameras but if they do I'm potentially in the same position as you as I drove past last Friday.

I'm all for children's safety but the restrictions locally start long before the end of the school day (2.15 for a 3pm finish) so are excessive IMO.

Do you have a GSV of the location that is current enough to have the sign there?

Saying you didn’t see it could mean one of two things.
