It's clearly just an error on entry to the MOT on the basis of the mileage on the advertisement is in line with what it should have been and therefore is unlikely to be a replacement dash or anything more nefarious.

Problem there is that this price range puts you absolutely into the core period of petrols being bought new very rarely.

A history of ~4k years could lead to DPF issues, but at least no AdBlue.

OP, if the tax expired in March 2023 and MOT in July 2023, that would suggest to me it was parked up somewhere a long time. Possibly someone died and it was stuck in probate while the estate was sorted out, then was sold to a dealer by the executors/family. Not particularly problematic, although being off road for 18 months would put me off.

Hi all, sorry for not replying sooner. Apparently the garage has no service history for the missing time period and my sister-in-law has decided to not take a chance with this car and is looking elsewhere now, thank you for the helpful replies / advice, much appreciated.

If she is looking at cars that are 10+ years old, I'd suggest she's going to struggle to buy anything if the want is a 100% service record. Sure, there are cars out there with them. They'll be few and far between though. Especially run of the mill stuff.

Even a car with a spotty service record is probably better than one that's been off the road for at least 15 months.
