We're excited to announce our latest spooky-themed competition, in partnership with Talliston House & Gardens, a unique Essex B&B that's undoubtedly the most astounding place you'll ever stay! Their Halloween season is already in full swing, with special tours and ghostly events taking place.

Called 'Britain’s most extraordinary home' by The Times, beyond the front door is a series of remarkable rooms – each lovingly designed with a commitment to their wildly different themes. There’s the futuristic Japanese Tea Room, a 1920s New York study, the Victorian watchtower and the New Orleans kitchen. Three are guest bedrooms: the Scottish Art Nouveau 'Haunted Bedroom', the 'Room of Dreams' recreating a Moorish bedchamber, and the garden 'Cabin' – finalist for George Clarke's 'Shed of the Year' on Channel 4.

The lucky winner will receive a two-night stay for two people with a private tour by the owner John Tarrow on arrival, plus a book bundle to take home: The Stranger's Guide To Talliston novel, the Talliston Room Atlas photobook, and the Talliston Book of Days calendar.

During your stay, perhaps you'd like to book Afternoon Tea, where you'll enjoy a spread of homemade scones, tasty sandwiches and a choice of beverages from around the globe. Out and about, Great Dunmow, where the house is found, is a pleasant market town dating back to Roman times.
