Boiler and tank?

Options
Hello, I am in process of buying a 3 bed/1 bathroom house, I believe built in late 1980s
There is a boiler in kitchen, 18 months old
However, looking around upstairs, there was also a water tank in a cupboard, which I didn't expect.
Can anyone explain this system?
Many thanks

Sounds like a system boiler - Quite a common setup, so nothing to be concerned about. Just get the boiler serviced regularly. And if the water tank is an unvented one, you'll need a plumber/engineer with G3 certification to do any work on it. Post a photo of the tank if you are not sure if it is an unvented tank, and we will soon tell you.

Thank you. Water tank not unvented, I have one of those in my home now. Looks like an old tank from when it was first built. Whereas boiler only 18 months old

There could well be a couple of cold water tanks up there, one huge one, 50 gallons + and a smaller one that’s a header tank for the boiler system.

Have you looked / been up there?

Old tank with new boiler, or could be a redundant tank if the boiler has been replaced by a combi.
Have you asked the seller? Can you get the boiler model details?

I'm going to look further on next visit, and yes, in meantime I've asked estate agents to find out from vendors. I'm hoping it is a system boiler set up..
