Hi, I havent got a receipt but purchase is on bank statement. I will email a copy but do I send it in its entirety or should I blot out any specific information ? They also ask for last 4 digits of bank card too.

Has the retailer said that they'll accept a bank statement in lieu of an actual receipt?
Redacting it shouldn't be an issue, but it's essentially up to them.1 -
Depends what's going on! Statutory rights don't have specific requirements about "proof of purchase", ultimately it's something to be proved on the balance of probabilities whether/when the consumer bought the item. Any sort of evidence could be used. You don't need to produce either a receipt or a bank statement at all, but obviously they may help.eskbanker said:

Yes they will accept a bank statement. What ao need to know is what information on the statement should I redact?eskbanker said:Has the retailer said that they'll accept a bank statement in lieu of an actual receipt?

How are you getting the statement etc to them?

Certainly all other transactions, but potentially other information too, except your name and address, although there's no defined standard. The above point may be valid too, i.e. under what circumstances are you being expected to supply proof of purchase?FluffySP said:

This is regarding a report I made about a foreign body in food. They want to know which store I purchased it so they can investigate so want either receipt bank statement to verify. All I want to know is what to redact on the statement to ensure confidentiality and security.user1977 said:

Redact as much as you want to - it sounds like they only want whatever reference on the transaction tells them the store?FluffySP said:

I assume they already know your name and address, so that can stay visible. I'd leave those and the relevant transaction line visible, and redact the rest. They don't need to see all your account details or your other transactions, a headed statement with your name, address, date, retailer and amount of the transaction will suffice.FluffySP said:

Just screenshot the single line on the statement. They need no more than that.
