Royal Mail - are they delivering?

I'm at the end of my tether with RM. No delivery service for days at a time, letters arriving weeks late, no 'sorry we missed you' cards, or not filled in correctly when cards are left, post going missing, post being delivered to the wrong address.
This is at my home and business premises, they're 30 miles apart so not a local sorting office issue.
Whether I use first, second, tracked or signed for, all are performing badly.
Even Special Delivery is occasionally letting me down.
Am I just unlucky, or am I experiencing the reality of Royal Mail today?
Please share your experiences.

Post service, what post service?if I get one "important" letter a month that's it. Postman shoves various flyers through my letterbox couple of times a week which go straight in the trash.
If I get a "we missed you" card I have to go to the local sorting office which is now open for about 1 hour each in the morning and afternoon and speak to a surly post worker.
Pretty awful service really, avoid if possible!2 -
Our postal service for deliveries here is quite good but we have an excellent postman, who has been doing our route for many years, and I'm sure that this helps. I send things frequently to Plymouth and Manchester and occasionally to Hull. The Plymouth post usually arrives the next day, even though that is often a Saturday. The post to Manchester often takes several days to arrive, even first class. Earlier this year I sent two items to the same Manchester address by Special Delivery, to arrive by 1pm. Both arrived a day late and RM pretended that there had been an attempted delivery before 1 on the day they were supposed to have been delivered, which I knew for a fact was not true. It took me many weeks of arguing my case with their customer services (which provides a very poor 'service' indeed) before they finally gave me a refund. At one point they told me I had to obtain a refund from the sender, even though it was obvious from the start of our exchange of emails that I was the sender! I'm sure that most people would have given up but I'm very tenacious and I was determined not to let them get away with it. The post to Hull is usually very slow and has on more than one occasion taken two weeks or more for an item posted first class to arrive. In short, it is very hit and miss and depends a lot, I think, on where you live.1

The postal service isn't good enough, I'm having some problems. It's definitely taken a battering over the past year, apartment living means I seem to get a bunch of letters once a week all at once, lucky if the postman turns up daily.1
