Problem with balance transfer

So seeing if anyone has had this problem? ! Requested a balance transfer for my new credit card ( first direct) to clear the balance off my old credit card ( NatWest).
Now this was done last Thursday and the balance on my new card is showing the balance I requested off my old one. Fast forward 8 days later and my old card is still showing the balance outstanding with NO pending transaction, have spoken to them personally (NatWest) and they can't see anything in the pipeline. So basically ATM I have double my debt through no fault of my own, what happens now?
