  • The insurers started to engage about a week ago but have now stopped. We said through the solicitor that we wanted to start to fix the problems/damage. They asked how much it would cost. We said we can get quotes but also want our solicitor and surveyor fees included. And now radio silence...again.

What does your own insurer say about this? It might just be easier to let them fight it out with the other insurer and work will likely start quicker. No point in not getting them involved as you will have to declare this anyway when you renew.
  • We haven’t got them involved as we didn't want to claim on our insurance as it wasn't our fault.

Just to be clear, you know that you have to tell them what is happening anyway and that will impact your renewal? Have you renewed without telling them since this all began?

Solicitors fees are unnecessary so they won't cover those. A surveyor may be covered if its deemed reasonable for the damage... clearly you dont need a structural surveyor for a pair of drill holes etc
