UKPC Notice to Keeper

Hi all,

A Notice to Keeper arrived yesterday from UKPC with a £100 (reduced to £60 if paid within 14 days) fine for not been been parked inside of a marked bay (Crown Point shopping park in Leeds). I was pretty surprised when I saw the photos as I was clearly parked across 2 Parent/Child bays (I was with my 2 kids) - I really must not have been paying attention as it's something I hate to see myself.

I had a drive down lastnight and the bays I'm parked in are really small, much more so than others in the car park. I thought the intention of Parent/Child bays were to accommodate family sized cars and room for getting kids out of seats etc.

I can't really argue with the signage as it seems pretty clear, there was one on the wall right infront of where I parked.

Is this worth contesting or should I just pay up? I'm not really sure on what grounds I can argue - I could suggest the bay was too small but there are plenty of others. I've a newborn and just sold my house to buy a bigger one so will be needing to apply for a mortgage soon. I don't want to risk any adverse impact on credit report for £60 but equally don't want to handover money to these parasites if I don't need to.

Many thanks!

Plan A is always a complaint from the keeper to the landowner and the keeper's MP.

Plan B is an appeal using the template in blue text from the sticky Announcement for NEWBIES.

Plan C is an appeal to PoPLA. Get photos of the site and signage in readiness because UKPC signs are always inadequate and incapable for forming a contract.

Make sure you tell UKPC and their debt chasers when you move. That is urgent; NEVER leave a PPC with an old address (that is the ONLY CCJ risk situation).

Apart from that I'd actually ignore them.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
