Boiler Central

They installed a boiler for me last year. Overall opinion, let down by the subcontractor that did the work. Paid by credit card so that I have someone else to hold liable should any issues surface.thebullsback said:Boiler Central ,has anyone had any dealings with this company good or bad?
Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

Our experience was exactly the same as @FreeBear's. Their after-service was attentive and personal, and the amazingly long guarantee/warranty (I don't remember which, offhand) meant the boiler has aftercare which we've used once for a pressure drop that we'd not been shown how to rectify. This care came from the manufacturer. However Boiler Central employ subcontractors and ours was appalling. Every excuse under the sun, starting with being booked to start elsewhere at the same time he was booked to be at ours, through saying he'd given information that he hadn't, to us having to call out the emergency gas people because he left the outside gas connection insufficiently secure and there was a smell of gas.
Boiler Central were clearly onto there being an issue with this individual as they followed up on our reports - though you can only report online, which they follow up with a phone call.
It appears the person who instals the boiler is then allocated to that boiler for future care, so if you have an experience like ours, it's as well to have the manufacturer's warranty so you don't have to see the allocated person.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

!!!!!Atrocious experience dealing with this company!!!!!
They messed up my installation date twice and didn't delivery all parts needed for my combi boiler installation!! First, they randomly sent an engineer to install a week before the agreed installation date, none of the parts or the boiler were here at that time and I wasn't available, because I was not expecting them to come a week early. Then, on the actual date of installation, despite me contacting them the day before to confirm that everything is in order and being reassured that it is, nobody turned up the next day to install!! How is it possible to be so ridiculously bad at organising something as simple as an installation appointment? They also kept messing up the parts ordered as my installation needed an extra 90 degree elbow for my boiler flue which never arrived - despite contacting them numerous times to make sure it's added to the order and sending them pictures. They told the engineer who came to install (on the 3rd attempt) to just install anything - he refused knowing it would void my boiler warranty. In the end we both made calls and checked shops in the area to find the missing elbow for my installation... Absolute headache!!
Massive headaches trying to get in touch with them, they do not answer their service phone numbers, the only way to actually speak to them was to pretend to do a quote for a new boiler and then they immediately call. So they only care about new business and as soon as they have your money, they will treat you like garbage.
I'm also still waiting for the warranty documentation for my boiler which they never sent me despite me contacting them asking for it. I will also contact the Financial Ombudsman Service if they fail to deliver the warranty documentation.
!!!!!Avoid this poor company all costs, they are unprofessional, rude and couldn't plan a !!!!!!-up in a brewery! 0 stars if I could!!!!!0 -
Do NOT use Boiler Central. I regret it so much. I chose them because they were cheaper. Three years later, there are still problems and the company don't care. They outsource their work and it shows. Here's my story:
I ordered a boiler from Boiler Central's website based on their guidance on what was needed for a house my size
When it was installed, the badly damaged the wall inside and out and put a pipe and the flue incorrectly, at a dangerous height and in the wrong position
After it was installed and when I contacted Worcester to register it, I was informed it was an under-sized boiler for my house
When a properly sized boiler was installed, at the first service, it was found to be dripping inside, causing rust
Then there were a number of other issues, including staff turnover, appointments being difficult to arrange or being cancelled at short notice
With one of the 'professionals' who came out to review an issue, I was told I needed a whole new water tank, which turned out to be incorrect
At the last service done by Boiler Central, all seemed OK - or at least that was what I was told
This year should've been another annual service covered by Boiler Central, but as has happened previously, no one at Boiler Central recognised it
So I went to another company for my annual service and this is what they've put in their service report:
‘Attended site for annual boiler service. When at the property noticed that the flue has been installed incorrectly. It needs to be past the gutter. And when looking at boiler noticed that there’s been a couple of leaks. This is not in good condition considering the age of the boiler. The expansion vessel leaks when boiler is cooled down. And both flow and return connections on boiler leak some times. Recommend that you either get the people back to extend the flue with clip and sort leaks out. Recommend the flue is extended and clipped, the expansion vessel replaced, and the boiler drained down with new gaskets’
I spent a lot of money on a new boiler with Boiler Central and I got told that one issue is an illegal flue installation and it's been like that for 3 years and not once did any of the many professionals Boiler Central sent round to my house pick up on this. How can they be professionals and not know this? The person who did my service showed me that it's in the boiler manual that Boiler Central’s installer signed.
So, now I have a boiler which is 'not in good condition' due to how Boiler Central installed it and serviced it - again using what they claimed to be 'professionals'. And finally, the engineer showed me the back of the wall the boiler is sat on and it's an absolute mess with big cracks in it. So it's been a shoddy installation with an illegal flue, leaks that have caused rust in my boiler when it's only 3 years old and I've spent countless hours back and forth on this and no one in Boiler Central – having emailed the senior people in the company – care or respond.
Please don’t make the mistake I did and get your head turned by price alone, because the actual end cost is so much higher and still costing me today over three years later.
