British Gas - No Bills since May !

I have had many issues with British gas since joining .

We transferred from EDF ( only due to them at the time not having avaliabilty on the EV tarriff )

. They managed to do something to our Smets1 meter which resulted in nothing working , they had to come out and replace it ( was required for EV charging ) . Had customer service reps saying its working correctly , But i knew it wasnt as the Smets1 meter was erroring a code,I was then pushed to do a complaint to get this sorted.

. They managed to sort that issue with a new meter , But... My IHD never kept upto date with all the tarriff changes and the app/website had Zero information on what we was using at the time .

. Now we are on the new billing/app system ( which worked fine for a few months until i was forced onto a Ev new tariff as the old one was ending ) . Now nothing has been billed since May and despite contacting customer services for months on end i was forced to do a complaint again and this has been going on since september just to get a bill .

. My smart meters are working fine as inside the app i can get all my usage so im taking screenshots ready for the bill eventually.

Now The Question :

If i was to start the leaving process to goto Octopus energy , will British Gas be forced to give me a final bill and finally sort this ?

I have a Exit fee on the fixed deal , £50 for each . But im prepared to swallow this just to get away from them ! .

Are you on a 6 monthly billing cycle in which case your next bill wouldn't be due until November?

From people posting on here previously I am pretty sure that British Gas do not offer Variable Direct Debit on the new system. They did on the old system but those moving over were switched to either a three or six month cycle, unless that has changed in the last few months.

Maybe thats what the issue was , But i wish they could have just told me that . From my App its still saying i am on a variable ( the last 2 payments were on the new system , just old Tariff )

Either way I have now decided to signup with Octopus Energy and my join date is 18.10.24 , I replied to BG complaint email expressing my thoughts on the Exit charge of the  EV tariff, and how it should be waivered because of the stress this has all caused and too my suprise got a phonecall same day "Promising" £100 credit .

Lets see how this one now plays out !

I have taken screenshots of all months usage for electricty and gas inc standing charges.

I was on MVDD on the old BG system and that's still the case having been moved to the new system.
However, I think you're correct about MVDD not being offered to new customers.
Now that so-called 'Fixed' DDs on the SVT are less fixed than ever, it's high time that dozy Ofgem mandated that MVDD should be an option offered by all suppliers.
